Dr. Christine Chansamone (They/She) is a visionary dreamer, inspired by the human spirit, and the resilience of the mind and body. They are motivated to transform physical therapy practice by incorporating a greater emphasis on nervous system regulation for pain management, re-educating the body to move after injury, and creating a foundation for re-establishing a sense of safety in the body through a trauma-informed approach to healing.

They have explored embodiment practices such as mindfulness, meditation, breathwork, and movement to cultivate a deep connection between their mind and body throughout their life. This exploration began with their childhood spent practicing martial arts and an active childhood that included basketball, softball, skateboarding, and snowboarding.

As a second-generation American born to refugees from war-torn Vietnam and Laos, Dr. Christine grew up in Southern California, where they were exposed to varied approaches to mental, emotional, and physical health as a result of their upbringing. These experiences shaped their unique understanding of rehabilitation and performance training as a physical therapist. They combine Eastern and Western philosophies with mindfulness practices, breathwork, and nervous system rehabilitation to guide patients in aligning mind, body, and soul with how they move through the world.

These practices, paired with evidence-informed physical therapy interventions, help patients tap into greater internal motivation, develop higher quality therapy goals, and achieve more impactful outcomes that improve their quality of life. Dr. Christine brings warmth, empathy, and compassion to every interaction, creating a space where patients feel truly seen, heard, and understood. At Alchemist Physical Therapy, they collaborate deeply with patients based on their values, beliefs, and life goals to create individualized care plans that translate meaningfully into real-life activities and interactions.

At their core, Dr. Christine is an educator who believes transparency and knowledge empower patients to gain greater awareness of their mind-body needs. Their main goal is to help patients eventually meet those needs independently—so they can move through the world in greater alignment with what their soul calls them to do.

"I don't just ask my clients to explore their values and show up courageously—I live it too." - Dr. Christine

"I am a highly sensitive, empathetic, and deeply compassionate person—and I've learned that these aren't weaknesses in healthcare, they're superpowers. My ability to connect authentically with people creates a safe space where they can be vulnerable about what's really going on: not just "my knee hurts," but "I'm terrified I'll never be able to adventure the way I used to" or "I feel like my body is betraying me."

That vulnerability is where transformation begins.

I help you explore the emotional, mental, and physical dimensions of your pain. We don't just treat symptoms—we uncover what you're truly fighting for, align your care with your deepest values, and build a path forward that honors your whole self.

I don't just ask my clients to explore their values and show up courageously—I live it too. I'm passionate about experiencing life to the fullest through hiking, martial arts, working out, creative writing, art, music, traveling, and trying new foods (always open to recommendations!).

What lights me up most is sharing these experiences with others. Whether it's a challenging hike with friends, discovering a new art exhibit, or learning a new martial arts technique, I believe in connecting through play, exploration, and curiosity. These aren't just hobbies—they're expressions of my core values: community, authenticity, and personal growth.

I practice what I preach about self-compassion, self-trust, and empathetic leadership. I cultivate a growth mindset in my own life, which means I understand the courage it takes to change, the vulnerability required to ask for help, and the commitment needed to show up for yourself day after day.

Because I live this way, I can walk alongside you with genuine understanding—not as someone prescribing from above, but as a fellow human who knows what it means to invest in yourself and trust the transformation process."

Alchemist Physical Therapy and The Embodiment Method

The Embodiment Method is a holistic approach to physical therapy that merges Western and Eastern medicine philosophies related to health and wellness to heal musculoskeletal injuries by addressing how trauma is stored in the body, and severs the mind-body connection, leading to faulty movement patterns, pain, fear of movement, and self-limiting beliefs.

Through the use of neuroplasticity to rewire the brain and body, somatic healing practices, and evidence-informed interventions in physical therapy, this method restores the nervous system to a state of foundational safety that helps patients and clients restore the relatioship between their mind and body, so they can move with greater alignment with their values, increasing their quality of life by empowering them to move with greater purpose and independence from pain and suffering.

This is more than physical therapy — this is a transformation.

Step into full embodiment and move through life with clarity, confidence, and connection.

Frequently Asked Questions

What my clients and patients have to say

Are you an out-of-network physical therapy provider?

Yes. I am an out-of-network provider, which allows for longer appointments, one-on-one care, and highly individualized treatment without the restrictions often imposed by insurance companies. While I do not bill insurance directly, I can provide a superbill that you may submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement, depending on your plan.

How do I pay for services if you are out of network?

Payment is due at the time of service. I accept:

- Credit and debit cards

- Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)

- Cash

- CareCredit and other medical financing options (where applicable)

I am happy to help you determine whether your services may be eligible for reimbursement.

What is mobile physical therapy?

Mobile physical therapy means your session takes place in your chosen environment—such as your home, workplace, gym, or community space. This allows care to be tailored to your real-life movement demands and eliminates the need to travel to a clinic.

What does it mean to be a hybrid physical therapy practice?

A hybrid practice offers both in-person and telehealth services. Telehealth sessions may be used for follow-ups, exercise progression, movement education, ergonomic assessments, or coaching—allowing flexibility while maintaining continuity of care.

What should I wear to my physical therapy appointment?

Please wear clothing that allows for easy movement analysis:

- Tank top or fitted shirt

- Shorts (or leggings that allow joints to be clearly observed)

This allows your physical therapist to accurately assess joint motion, muscle activation, posture, and movement patterns during testing and exercise.

What is included in a physical therapy evaluation?

Your evaluation is an up to 90-minute comprehensive and individualized session often including:

- Movement and posture analysis

- Strength testing

- Range of motion assessment

- Identification of symptom sources (joint, muscle, tendon, ligament, or neuromuscular control)

- Discussion of lived experiences that may influence movement, pain, or healing

- Exploration of your values, goals, and priorities

- Collaborative development of a personalized plan of care

At the end of the evaluation session, we will discuss the number of visits and frequency of sessions appropriate for addressing your conditions, expectations for progress in therapy, and address any of your questions and concerns.

How long are appointments?

Initial evaluations and follow-up sessions are more flexible than traditional clinic visits, allowing time for thorough assessment, education, and treatment. Exact duration will be discussed during scheduling. Initial evaluations at up to 90 minutes, follow up visits are between 15-45 minutes, dependent on the needs of the client and the format of the visit (in-person vs. online).

What conditions do you treat?

I treat a wide range of musculoskeletal and movement-related concerns, including pain, injury recovery, chronic conditions, postural and ergonomic issues, and performance limitations. Services are tailored to the individual rather than a diagnosis alone.

Do I need a referral from a physician in California?

No. California allows direct access to physical therapy without a physician referral for up to 45 calendar days or 12 visits (whichever comes first). If continued care is needed beyond this period, or if your condition does not improve as expected, a referral from a physician may be required. If you plan to seek insurance reimbursement, your plan may have additional referral requirements.

What is performance coaching?

Performance coaching focuses on improving physical capacity, resilience, recovery, and movement efficiency to support your personal or professional goals.

With a physical therapist, performance coaching differs from working with a personal trainer because it is grounded in:

- Clinical movement assessment

- Injury prevention and load management

- Nervous system regulation

- Pain science and biomechanics

- Integration of health history and current symptoms

This approach is especially valuable for individuals balancing performance with longevity and health.

What is embodied leadership coaching?

Embodied leadership coaching is a holistic coaching service that integrates the body, nervous system, and lived experience into leadership development.

This service supports individuals in roles of service to others—such as healthcare providers, educators, advocates, and leaders in social change—by teaching skills including:

- Nervous system regulation and stress management

- Emotional attunement and self-awareness

- Time and energy management

- Communication and boundary-setting

- Conflict resolution

- Sustainable leadership practices

The goal is to help leaders lead with presence, integrity, and resilience—without sacrificing their own well-being or authenticity.

Is coaching covered by insurance? Who is eligible?

Coaching services are not covered by insurance and are offered as private-pay services. Coaching services are available to clients nationwide.

How do I know which service is right for me?

If you are unsure whether physical therapy, performance coaching, or embodied leadership coaching is the best fit, I offer consultations through discovery call bookings to help determine the most appropriate starting point based on your goals and needs.
